Mixing RnB loops with her trademark violin (which she’d learnt to play herself by ear), Athena was a wild mix of genres, throwing pretty much everything in the mix to make the listener excited to see where she’d go next. Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, producer and violinist Sudan Archives, real name Brittany Denise Parks, has returned with her long-awaited sophomore effort, 'Natural Brown Prom Queen'. This sophomore album has come nearly three years after Sudan Archives' critically acclaimed debut, 2019's 'Athena' , with little output in-between aside from a pair of remixes in 2020. 'Natural Brown Prom Queen' is a shapeshifting sonic endeavour through flashes of pop, electronica, R&B and hip-hop, but still feels a facilely coalesce and coherent experience.
