The debut album from The New Town Centres is rammed with tracks that are likley to put an end to the phrase "they don't write 'em like they used to," for this bunch of merry chaps from Stevenage have penned an album that demonstrates they can write e'm like they used to. Better actually.

There are a few tracks that stand out of course, the cryptically named 'Bacalao' with a guitar lick worthy of any of Tarrantino's flicks. The title track, 'The Reason You'reAlive', is a small departure into a kind of filthy disco funk, with intriguing lryics: "Everyone's got a reason they're alive, down below the belly and between the thighs."

Throughout the album the band maintain a high level of musicality and lryics that not only have you singing along, but thinking and laughing out loud simultaneously.

It's also well worth mentioning Rayners Lane, the quietest song on the album and a storming cover of Buggles - Video Killed the Radio Star.
