Naysayers listen up: Muse refuses to be the "next" Radiohead. Since forming in 1997, the alternative rock trio has continuously battled comparisons to the famed Oxford group while ambitiously creating a sound of its own, mixing elements of glam, pop, and symphonic music into a rock hybrid. British fans have praised the group for years, despite Americans taking until Absolution to discover Muse and give them their rightful props.

Matt Bellamy continues his campaign to be the most ludicrous man in rock. The fourth Muse album finds him fretting about alien invasions, prophesising that superstars will be eaten up by a universe-sized hole and proclaiming "We're invincible!" a la Queen's We Are the Champions. But enough of the milder moments. Black Holes and Revelations has the usual industrial dollop of space-metal lunacy but Bellamy's musical vision has undergone a big bang.
