For her first solo album since 2013, Emily Barker spent two weeks at Sam Philips' Recording Services in Memphis. Recorded with Grammy winning producer Matt Ross-Spang and a host of Mississippi sessionerati, Sweet Kind Of Blue is perfectly soulful and understated. It's the sort of album that makes a certain stripe of music fan ponder why Adele is a global phenomenon and someone like Barker is only familiar to those in the know.
