For some, Editors have never quite recaptured the thrilling dark euphoria of their glittering debut album, 2005's The Back Room. It certainly appeared to be an album informed by the edgy claustrophobia of the likes of Joy Division and Interpol, but also with flourishes of U2 levels of arena pomp. Their second album, 2007's An End Has a Start, expanded on that initial dark template and flew straight into the UK charts at no.1.
Seventh album from Birmingham outfit sees them take a gigantic leap into the dark, dodging expectations with unrestrained vigour Followers of Editors will know the band like to take risks, but even by their standards new album EBM is a gigantic leap into the dark. The dark, in this case, comes from the studio of Benjamin Power. Otherwise known as Blanck Mass, and a founder member of Fuck Buttons, Power is now a full-time Editors band member.
Editors are no strangers when it comes to risk taking and genre bending and their seventh album 'EBM' is the true personification of this ethos. However, this might be Editors' most leftfield and experimental body of work to date. 'EBM' is the first album with new band member Benjamin John Power, aka Blanck Mass and the name of the album is an acronym of Editors and Blanck Mass, but is also a reference to Electronic Body Music.
