Album Review: Vagabond by Eddi Reader

Eddi Reader has been around long enough to have built a fine reputation and huge respect among her peers. This new album, with all its maturity, self-assurance and rich musical reference points, suggests that such admiration can only grow in stature. Recorded in Glasgow with a group of well-established collaborators, including longstanding cohort Boo Hewerdine, Vagabond’s 14 tracks vary from the delightful early 30s song I’ll Never Be The Same to the country-tinged It’s A Beautiful Night, the gentle dance that is Macushla and to the one-take beauty of Snowflakes In The Sun.
