Album Review: Life on the Road [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] by David Brent

Acceptable, Based on 2 Critics

From "Don't Cry It's Christmas" onwards, the record shifts from a token seasonal song and the vocoder-centric "Spaceman" to a reggae double-header before landing at the Chris Martin collaboration -- and Coldplay imitation -- "Electricity." If this was a serious album, that kind of sequencing would be unforgivable, but the final verdict depends a lot on perspective. If this is Brent's album, existing for comedic reasons purely to accompany the film, then it fulfills its purpose. However, taken at face value, it's nothing more than a mish-mash of classic rock tropes and controversial lyrics.

Gervais certainly thinks so, as this is no thrown-together package.
